where i used to work, we offered 2 types of mint tea, a ginseng peppermint herbal tea & a green mint tea.
the peppermint tea is herbal so it’s non-caffeinated. it soothes an upset stomach, has gives you energy because of the ginseng too. and i actually find mint tea calming (i dunno why).
the green tea has anti-oxidants which is good for the body and plus green tea has lesser caffeine than normal black and oolong tea so it’s a bit healthier.
Peppermint oil calms the stomach and aids digestion. Warm water calms the stomach and aids digestion.
But a peppermint “starlight mint” will give you as much peppermint oil as you need, and it goes nicely with a cup of coffee, without all the tannin that’s found in tea. Coffee reduces the risk of diabetes, parkinson’s, stomach ulcers, colon cancer, cirrhosis, and gallstones.
So to the degree that peppermint tea replaces coffee in your diet, it’s *bad* for you.
I like peppermint tea when I’m congested, inhaling the minty steam from the mug helps clear me up a little.
