Anyone know where I can find the jamaican spice pimento in Ann Arbor, Michigan?

I recently made a jamaican curry dish with some borrowed pimento spice and it was fabulous! I borrowed the spice from out of town guests who bought it in their home town which has a large jamaican population. I want to find more so I can experiment further with jamaican cooking, but I have no idea where to buy carribean items close by.

I was under the impression pimento was stuffed into olives. Thanks for showing me there was also a spice, entirely different.

From what I read online, this is also called Allspice.

Try Zingerman’s in AA they have lots of stuff.

If they don’t have it, try ordering online from Rafal Spice in the Eastern Market of Detroit.

pimento is not a spice really…its sold in all supermarkets in the pickle aisle…pimento is the red thing inside a green olive
they come in jars

You had Paprika, which is made from red peppers (pimentos) , dried and ground into a powder, and is available in plain, sweet, hot or smoked. Most likely you had either the hot or smoked.

Jamaica calls allspice berries pimento. So look for whole allspice.

The last girl is right, I am a former chef and worked in Jamaica at one time we had 2 trees on the property and they even use the leaves, dried allspice berries or ground allspice and be used in a number of Caribbean dishes, it is the main spice in Jerk seasoning for chicken, pork and fish.
