An herb will save the nation, although I wont tell you which herb.
if you use them often, a larger container is cheaper
I don’t know about the quality of dollar store brands
No, not particularly. Glass jars are actually cheaper to produce! Try them out and see what works for you, that’s the best way…occasionally you don’t get what you pay for!!!
no those herbs will be fresh when you open them but the question is how long before you need to get more herbs because the gallon jug of herbs you bought has gone bad?
Herbs usually start to go stale after about 4 months unless they are really sealed tightly and there is no way for us the consumers to seal herbs the way they were sealed when we bought them.
My suggestion is to grow your herbs and make an indoor herb garden. This way you’ll always have fresh herbs! Follow the link at the bottom for where to purchase herb seeds.
Good Luck!
When I had my restaurants, I never bought herbs in anything smaller than a quart container. They are sealed, and as fresh as smaller jars. The price is always better. I now buy herbs occasionally in the dollar stores. So what if they go bad before I finish them, I can get all the oregano I can use for a two month period for $1 as compared to $3.65 for enough to make one dish. Duh… Throw it away when it gets old, or sprinkle it on your coals the next time you are barbecuing, to give some added flavor to the meat and vegetables, and then spend another $1 on fresh ones.
