The first love of Apollo was Daphne 1, who refused him and fled, turning in her flight into a laurel-tree.
It was Daphne, in her flight she became a laurel tree, as seen in the wonderful sculpture by Bernini:
a). Europa is the girl that Zeus came down in the form of a bull and abducted, takingher away to Crete.
b). Daphne is the girl that turned into a laurel tree to escape from the advances to the god Apollo
c). Psyche is the girl that Cupid feel in love with, but cupid didn’t want her to see him. She peeked, and had to endure trials by his mother Venus.
d). Prosepina is the daughter of Demeter that Hades abducted and mad his wife.
According to Greek myth, Apollo chased the nymph Daphne. His infatuation was caused by an arrow from Eros, who wanted to make Apollo pay for making fun of his archery skills. For protection, her father Peneus, turned her into a laurel tree. In her honor, Apollo created a wreath from her leaves. The wreath, since called a Daphne, remains a symbol of excellence.
b) Daphne. There’s an entire opera about it.
