Can I plant a bell pepper plant in a big planter? My husband told me he wants one when it was too late?

I have already put in my veggie garden and I’m not changing anything around just so he can have his precious pepper plant. Is there anyway they can be grown in a container next to my veggie garden? How big of a pot would I have to use to hold it? Do they need to be steaked up to something or do they hold themselves up well?

Pepper plants are actually quite beautiful. I mix them into my perennial beds and mixed containers. They do need to be staked when the pepper gets heavy.

Yes, the plant doesn’t have to grow very large to produce. Put it into some good garden soil with compost just like in your garden. Mine is about 2 feet tall right now and is already producing. It doesn’t need to be staked. Most peppers will grow nicely in containers. It needs sun and well drained soil so don’t over water it. A 4-5 gallon container would work.

I plant in containers lots. A bell pepper will grow nicely in a 2 1/2 gallon bucket. I have planted a whole garden that way and had fabulous results. Larger stuff like corn, I wouldn’t try though.

You certainly can do a pepper in a container, Use a 5 gallon pot and keep it watered and fertilized. Give it the hottest sunniest spot you have and you will get peppers.

Yes of course you can plant a bell pepper plant in a pot. A large enough pot to sustain a growing plant 24-30 inches. Put in good quality soil and fertilize with time release. Your on your way to a happy hubby.
