Could I substitute paprika for cayenne pepper in a ginger snap recipe?
I can’t find my cayenne pepper and I need it for ginger snaps. I don’t want to go to the store because it is too far away. I have paprika and chili powder, but I don’t want to use the chili powder because it is a mixture of spices. What do you think, should I use the paprika (if so should it be the same amount, less, or more) or should I suck it up and go to the store?

No paprika has almost no flavor, cayenne pepper will definitely change flavor. However, I would not use paprika as a substitute for ginger either. Just won’t taste right.
You could make them without the cayenne pepper but don’t use paprika. It’s not the same.
Sure you can use cayenne pepper; it will just be a little spicier.
If you want Ginger Snap cookies without the “snap,” then substitute. Otherwise, go to the store. You know you need eggs and milk anyway…
Don’t. Cayenne and paprika does not have the same flavor. Cayenne actually emanates real heat, as opposed to paprika just adds a touch of color.
paprika will not give any zing to what you are making, its basically a bland spice that doesnt do much of anything
Id use a pinch of chili powder. They substitued it in a recipe last night on tv.
go to the store paprika dosent taste the same as cayenne pepper
