Don’t have a spice grinder, can I use something else?
A recipe I am making calls for 2 tsp. Cumin Seeds ground. But I don’t have a grinder, and don’t really want to buy one. Can I grind the seeds a different way? Maybe by hand some how? The recipe also has cumin in powder form in a different part of the recipe so it needs to be the seeds.

put them on a cutting board and smash the flat of a chef’s knife on top of them. Or you could use a cereal bowl and the end of a screwdriver.
yeah you could use a mortar and pestle to grind the seeds. make sure everything is dry so it doesnt turn into a paste.
Do you have a coffee bean grinder?
You can always ‘mash’ the seeds with a rolling pin. Put plastic wrap over the seeds on a cutting board and have at it with the rolling pin. Or a meat mallet (using the smooth side, obviously)
Hope this works out for ya.
a mortar and pestle
rolling pin
put the cumin seeds in ziplock, seal it making sure all the air is out. wrap a dish cloth around and use a hammer to crush the seeds.
for an neat powder, put between two layers of plastic wrap,or paper towels
put on cutting board and rap with a knife or hammer
you can try a rolling pin – put seeds in a plastic bag first. Mortar Pedestal is the traditional way. you could also try a mini food processor. Don’t think A blender will get it fine enough for you but MIGHT work. Good luck!
Mortar and pestle works great.
