How bad is a habanero pepper?
I ate a serrano pepper today in one bite, and it lit my mouth on fire but I was able to maintain my composure. I played a spades game and lost with the condition being that I now have to take a bite out of a habanero pepper tomorrow. How bad is that compared to it? Am i going to die on the spot or what?

Habaneros are deceptive…
They actually taste sweet at first and then it hits you… It’s like a second or two delay… unlike other peppers which hit you up front.
How bad? 10 times bad based upon my taste buds and guess.
I can eat a serrano easily with no problems… 1/4 habanero makes me sweat.
Have a glass or two of milk ready to help soothe the “pain”.
I found that eating Italian dry salami helps too or some fatty cooked salami.
The pain chemical in peppers are fat-soluble (dissolves in fat)… so having milk or fatty lunch meat seems to help disperse the burn.
Edit…
If you look at the Scoville scale (A measure of hotness)
Serrano is about 10,000 units.
Habanero is about 100,000 units.
Also… in your bet… do you have to chew? Take a bite and swallow quickly so the pepper doesn’t linger in the mouth that long. You will still feel the burn… but not as worse as chewing.
Habaneros are actually in the Trivia Pursuit game as being the hottest pepper on record. So in other words, as bad as it will ever get.
You won’t die on the spot, but these peppers are VERY spicy. If you can, you should get some vanilla ice cream to eat afterword. It will cool down your mouth and the fat from the ice cream helps got the spicyness off your tongue.
Make sure you have tissue paper with you because habanero chiles make your nose run!
they are VERY hot and just a tip for you when you eat it dont let it touch your lips…..GOOD LUCK
