how can I keep bugs from eating my basil plants?

I have basil plants on the back deck and many of the leaves have holes from “snacking” bugs. Is there a natural way to keep insects from eating the entire plant?

Wrap it in plastic?

dust them with Sevin, be sure to wash them b-4 use!

Usually basil keeps bugs away from other plants. In fact, in the last 4 years I cannot recall a major bug attack on any of my basil. You could dust the leaves with Seven. That is a pesticide that is relatively safe to use and inexpensive. Also try growing marigolds beside the basil plants.

spray them with neat bleech, it will not destry the plant, but only desrtoy the bugs

get a few cloves of garlic and squeeze the juice out of them.add some water and spray your herbs

Plant marigolds near the basil. The bugs will prefer those to the basil and leave the basil alone. Also, they will keep deer, and rabbits from going near the basil.

Sprinkle them and the dirt around them with cayenne pepper. Works great for ants as well.
