How do I get an audition for my son to be on Sesame Street?

I’ve found a ton of web sites for the Sesame Street Live show, but I am interested in having him on the actual show in New York. Not necessarily as a cast member, but just as one of the random kids that the puppets talk to. Are these kids actual actors or just random kids? Any links to sites, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated!
