How do I remove the smell of onion from my hands?

I cut up an onion two night ago for dinner and my hands still smell like it. I have washed them so much that they are dry and cracked but the smell remains. I have a company dinner to go to tonight and I dont want to smell ( It’s pretty strong still ), what do I do?
I tried the stainless steel first and it made a huge difference but there was still some smell. So i tried the baking soda and it took away most of it but i could still faintly smell it. The lemon juice finally did the trick. It really was very strong. Thanks for all the tips, I wish I could give you all the best answer!

Rub them on the faucet. I know it sounds weird but if you rub them on the metal faucet and then wash your hands, the smell goes away.

This should work for onion ordors also….good luck…:)

Garlic Removal from Hands
Chores such as cooking, kitchen cleaning and washing the dishes can leave odors behind on our hands. Nothing is worse than garlic, however. When it comes to removing garlic from your hands, prevention is key. A good way to eliminate this problem is to wear disposable rubber gloves, like surgical gloves, keeping a stock in the kitchen. If you choose not to wear gloves, wash your hands in cold soapy water, since hot water tends to seal in the odor. Rub your hands with either a cut lemon, baking soda or table salt, then wash them again with cold soapy water.Rubbing your hands over a stainless steel bowl or utensil under cold running water or rubbing your hands on the stainless steel faucet of the sink will also help. Washing dishes in a lemon-scented dish soap and warm water also helps to remove unpleasant odors from hands

Rub them on a stainless steel sink or anything made of stainless steel and will remove the odor.

any hand cream should do it.

Try some rubbing some lemon juice on your hands.

Lemon works on fish odor but do not know about onion.

rub a cut lemon over your hands. the acids will cut the smell. Wash your hands as usual afterwards.

Wash your hands in lemon juice and baking soda.. Then soap and water.
You can also wash your cutting board with lemon juice and baking soda to get rid of the smell.

OK, I can suggest a couple of things: 1) try rubbing your hands with parsley and/or celery–these tend to be good deodorizers (I don’t know why); 2) The characteristic odour of onions can be removed with lemon (this last is from the Wikipedia article on “onion”.

try to pour alcolon on it,i think it will work

rub your hand with lemon

Zinc. There are products on the market made with zinc that you rub all over your hands under cool running water. Any chunk of zinc would probably work. You can also try using laytex gloves when you handle onions or other smelly food.

Hi Lemon juice works well on this problem. Soak your hands for five minutes and the onion smell should evaporate. Sincerely Bobbie

Try toothpaste. This sometimes works for weird smells.
