OK.Teriyaki sauce First thing you need in there is a Microplane grater. everything Asian that has ginger in it is grated. teriyaki sauce. white wine, brown sugar cooked until the sugar is melted and the alcohol is evaporated then you add chopped garlic and grated ginger and soy sauce. You will find many recipes so I will tell you how to store the unused ginger Wrap it in foil, put it in a zip lok bag put it in the freezer and you can take it out and grate as much as you want and put it back in the freezer.
ginger root is usually grated into the food it is intended to flavor.
There should be some good recipes on for using ginger root.
ok, so I went and looked up a list of them for you:
One thing you can do with it is slice it thinly and use it to make teas or other drinks. It can have a potent flavor, though!
Or you can grate it and use it in some stir-fries, or to season white meats. You’ll find it’s used a lot in Chinese cooking.
Ginger is used in many Asian foods. Heating your oil in a wok or skillet, then adding minced ginger, minced garlic and chopped green onion before you add your vegetables or meat will add superb flavor to any Asian style dish.
Its also very good for marinating meats. How about putting chicken in a small amount of oil with chopped garlic, ginger and soy and let sit for about an hour (or longer time permitting)before grilling on the BBQ. Add a grilled slice of pineapple and brush both with teriyaki glaze and you’ve a good quick chicken dish.
This is a salmon dish that I make pretty frequently because even fish haters love it. It is super easy to make and goes over quite well. I never measure out specific amounts, so all ingredients are “to taste”.
Peel and grate the ginger.
In a zip-lock bag combine soy sauce (I use Ponzu, but you could substitute regular or reduced sodium soy sauce and add a little lemon juice.), olive oil, brown sugar, ginger, minced garlic, and black pepper (optional.) Add salmon fillet portions and refrigerate for 30 mins- 6 hrs. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and transfer fish to a baking dish, bake for 20-25 mins. or until fish flakes easily.
Serve with rice.
