How do you get garlic smell out of a refrigerator/freezer?

I purchased fresh chopped garlic and put it in an “odor-proof, air-tight” container, well just my luck, my entire fridge and now side-by-side freezer have a strong garlic smell, and the other foods taste like garlic. Had garlic icecream last night and garlic waffles this morning!! HELP!!

Try baking soda, it takes the skunk out of dog. So I bet it would work well for the garlic. Just open the box and put it in the frig.

vanilla essence

Rinse it with a water/vinegar solution. And don’t store garlic in the fridge – it keeps well outside.

i agree, baking soda. you might also empty it, unplug it, and let it air out.

Please take everything out of the refrigerator and freezer and wash the entire unit with baking soda (make a paste with the baking soda). Leave the doors to both sections open while letting the paste “absorb” the garlic smell. After a while, please finish washing the unit. Keep a new box of baking soda completely opened in both the refrigerator and the freezer. The baking soda will absorb any odors and keep everything smelling and tasting the way it should. The boxes will need to be changed every 3 months. Please be aware though that now when you put things back into the unit, unfortunately the smell may return because all of your items now have the garlic smell imprinted on them. You may want to discard some things and chose to “start over again” will all new items.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

switch off the fridge, empty it, then keep for few hours open…rince the interior with lukewarm water
