How frequent do you have to pump breastmilk after taking fenugreek tablet?
Do you still need to pump every 2/3 hours despite taking fenugreek supplement or you can afford to skip some hours and still get sufficient milk supply? How many hours can you be without pumping and still have supply? I started taking fenugreek supplement since yesterday and have been pumping for every 3 hours during the day till late nite and I was too tired to pump at 3am and 6am, will that affect my supply? Those experienced pls advice. Thanks
FYI: I am still nursing my baby.

What is a fenugreek tablet, and are you soley pumping or are you giving your baby milk as well?
Your body will adjust. It’s all about supply and demand. I have been nursing for 7 months and pumping for about 6 months give or take. I pump every 2-3 hours during the day when I’m away from my daughter and I don’t get up to pump at night, if my daughter wakes I will nurse her, but if she sleeps, I take that as an opportunity to get some much needed rest! Your supply will adjust so that you do not produce as much at night, but that does not mean that you will not produce enough to feed your baby.
Here’s our loose “schedule” or sorts, it can vary a LOT from day to day, but generally during the week its:
3:30 or 4:00 am – nurse & pump at the same time, but lately it’s been nurse, then pump
8 am – she gets a bottle at the sitter’s, I pump at work
11 am – she gets a bottle at the sitter’s, I pump at work
2 pm – she gets a bottle at the sitter’s, I pump at work
5 pm – nurse
7 pm – nurse
Sometimes she will wake at different hours during the night to nurse and my supply will adjust according to her needs, so if she nurses in the middle of the night for a few nights in a row and then skips a night, I will wake up VERY full the next day
On weekends I only pump first thing in the morning after she nurses because I am so full, the rest of the day/night she nurses. Nursing is the BEST way to keep your supply up!
How old is your baby? Are you ONLY pumping & bottle feeding or are you nursing as well?
nursing and pumping are key (in that order). fenugreek works in varying levels for women, sometimes needing to take more or adding different herbal supplements for it to all work.
most women see a difference with fenugreek after a few days, if it was only yesterday, keep your same nursing/pumping schedule for at least a week. remember that your baby is much more efficient at getting the milk out than your pump, even if you have a rented hospital grade pump!
the more often the breasts are stimulated and emptied, the more often and quickly they will “refill.” that is the supply/demand process of breastfeeding.
on increasing milk supply:
If you don’t pump at certain times of the day, you milk supply won’t be as strong then because you don’t get any out. Your body reporduces what you take out. But it won’t affect your supply at the other times you pump. Good Luck!
FYI-I took fenugreek and after a couple days it makes you stink…your pores just give off this nasty smell..just if you start to wonder!!
