How is a pale ginger man supposed to tan without looking hideous?

I am male 19 and I have ginger hair with the fairest complexion your ever likely to see so I stand out a mile.
But I look sickly and I need a tan, but I only burn in the sun and I am scared to death of fake tans, and I am worried that having ginger hair and a tan would look unnatural. But I want a tan, please help

it just looks unnatural– like you dying your hair black.
Maybe try a tinted moisturizer?

well you don’t necessarily have to have a “tan” you can just darken a bit……how about changing your hair color? being dark with red hair just looks not that normal

well, i am reallly white especially cause its winter but then again im blonde. normally i turn bright red in summer but then i sleep the redness off and im tan in the morning. you dont want anything too fake.

hey buddy, your coming across as un-manly. caring to much about how you look is effeminate, you get me? i’m a ginger guy to, and sometimes in the summer my freckles get so drawn together it looks like a tan. but why don’t you stop worrying about it, and if you’re not confident, go get a blue collar job shoveling minure or something – then you’ll get strong, have more testosterone and be more confident and then the ladies will like you. good luck.

I have very pale skin too. I actually like being pale even though I have had jerks that said. “your beautiful but you would look even hotter with a tan” I just ignore them because I’m better off without them. Just keep your pale skin. It probably looks better on you than a tan would.

Why don’t you post a pic up so we could tell you if you are as sickly looking as you say. Your probably just being too harsh on yourself.

Just be yourself. You’ll look WAY better than all those fake bakers in 20 years anyway. Who wants extra wrinkles??

Now with that being said- because I know that isn’t what you want to hear.

Try Jergens Self Tanning Lotion, it starts at at light then you move up to medium and dark.
Surprisingly it gives you a nice healthy glow rather than looking like an orange skinned idiot who doesn’t know how to use self tanner. :) good luck.

I personally think a tan would look unnatural with your complexion but since you burn in the sun, your only options are either spray-on tans or self-tanning lotions.

Malipu Hemp Golden Glow Bronzing Lotion works well as it does not streak, but instead you get a tan gradually. You can find it in Walmart in the lotions section or at beauty supply stores.

Most of the time we think we are paler then what we really are, because we see the flaws.

Iam pale too, and i tried all the tinted moistrizers and self tanning lotions, and tohught of tanning beds, and i burn easily in the sun. But if you put a 45 sunscreen on and go outside you might be ok because i use 30 and i actually got some colour and didnt burn, you just have to keep reapplying.

But it is okay to look the way you look, other darker ppl these days on purposely buy makeup to get pale skin. Everyone looks good in their own way.

As long as your confident, you’re good.

Get your girlfriend to rub some self-tanner on you!
OR
Go to a tanning place, and ask the person with the best tan there to help you.

tinted moisturizer for fair skin should be good for you, as each day results in a little more color. you can decide you don’t like it and walk away with a subtle difference
