how much do you think my crank seal is going to cost to repair by a garage on a vaux vectra 1.8 artic r reg?



i have a vauxhall vectra artic 1.8 petrol and ive got a oil leak cumin from the bottom of my engine/gearbox and its cumin out of a hole that was designed to do so and ive been told its my crank seal has anybody got any idea how much it will cost to repair because ive been told its a engine out job

wow that is the weird name for a car…. any way your looking at a pretty penny if the seal is the problem. 6 hours plus would be a rough estimate, and our rates are 88 dollars an hour plus parts. but i would check out all the simple things first like the gaskets farther up from the leak , also bring it to a mechanic to have them look at it. a lot of places will look at your car for free in hopes of getting your business.

Leaking crankshaft seals are normally caused by pressure in the cylinder block.This is usually caused by piston blow bye,or normal piston and bore wear,now that is the worst that you can expect.Engines have a crankcase breather system usually connected to the oil filler cap by means of a gauze and then connected to the main air filter to get rid of any fumes,if any of these filters are blocked ,pressure will build up in the block and scroll or return thread type vacuum seals will leak.
