How to grow basil at home in a pot?
I have some basil that I’ve attempted to grow in a pot, but it’s barelly growing…and most of the stalks have rotted away. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. How often should basil be watered? Does it grow better in a very sunlit environment, or in semi-shade? Can it grow in a temperature of about 66-69 degrees? What can I do to increase its chance of growing?

It’s possible to grow basil year round in a pot, but it needs lots of sunshine and prefers warmer temps. It’s not necessary to water the plant every day – every 3 or 4 days is fine, just don’t let it dry out completely.
Rotting stems, to much water. Place in southern window full sun.Use ready mix potting soil with fertilizer for vegetables. Start in 3-4 inch pot. Keep seeds moist until the seeds begin to sprout. Then monitor daily. Being a beginner just buy a soil water senser it will tell you when water. Or allow the soil to be dry for 3 days before watering again. Once the plants are established. Temperture should be in the 70s.
