I cook with Basil and use it daily, and it is hard to find here. How can I have the plant grow here in the heat?

You can grow it in pots and shade it for a little while each day. Bring it inside if the temp will drop below freezing at night.

You can also grow basil indoors, just locate it in a sunny window. In the heat of the summer we reach temps of 114 or better in SoCal and I bring my herbs inside. I have shelves right under the windows where they can receive the sunlight they require and the basil does just fine. Nothing like growing and eating your own fresh basil!
