Follow the box directions which usually state mixing the stuffing with chicken broth and adding the ingredients. Bake, heat on stove top, or microwave until heated through.
If the box of stuffing has a seasoning packet, you have everything you need and the instructions will be on the box.
If it’s just unseasoned bread cubes, you’ll also need some chicken broth or stock, and some butter.
Thinly slice some celery and chop some onion … saute’ that up in a skillet in some olive oil for a few minutes. Add the stock or broth and the butter, bring it to a boil, add the stuffing, cover and let stand 5 minutes or so … there you have it … stuffing!
ADDED: Oops … if those bread cubes are unseasoned, that’s gonna be pretty bland! Add some herbs … sage, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, parsley … whatever you’ve got. Definitely add some sage.
If they’re already seasoned, you don’t need this step.
Saute the onions and celery in a little olive oil, cook until translucent about 15 minutes. Follow package directions for stuffing (is this a stove top) if not, add water or chicken stock and an egg to bind the ingredients, stir in the onions and celery, season with pepper (assuming the stuffing is seasoned) and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Serve with gravy.
I fry mine just a little before mixing. You will also need some sage, if you don’t already have any. Just be careful not to add to much sage, just do a taste test, til you get it right. Hope this helps.
Happy Thanksgiving!
