I love the smell of cardamom. How can I make a cardamom perfume?
I tried to make a scented oil by heating the seeds in oil for a long time, but the scent is weak. Should I steep some seeds in alcohol for a week, then replace them and repeat until the scent is strong enough? Would that work, or should I just look for cardamom essential oil?

GET THE OIL
UND A DIFUSER
THE EASIEST WAY
I’ve never tried making cardamom oil, so I’m not sure how well the oil will scent, but the seeds are so strong, I think you should try it again.
Try using jojoba oil, because it has such a weak scent itself, it won’t interfere with the cardamom. Grind up the seeds in a food processor or coffee grinder. Put the seeds in a jar, and pour enough oil into the jar to cover the seeds. Cover, and store in a cool, dark place for a few weeks. Don’t heat the oil, it will change the aroma into something much less pleasant. Check after two or three weeks, and if it’s still not strong enough for you, strain it and add more fresh ground seeds. I wouldn’t repeat that process more than twice, because at that point, I don’t think the oil would get much stronger.
You can use alcohol (it’s really just a personal preference) if you want, just follow the same procedure using the alcohol instead of the oil.
You could also just get some cardamom essential oil, and dilute it in a carrier oil or alcohol, but making infused oils is so much more fun!
