Is Mace Windu directly the cause of Anakin turning to the darkside?

Think about it… Mace held down Anakin from the beginning.

Personally, I don’t think so. I think Qui-Gon’s death is the ultimate reason he turned. Obi-Wan never believed in him, if Qui-Gon had lived he would have done a lot better job at teaching him how to control his anger and would have seen that he didn’t feel the way he did. He wasn’t necessarily held back by anyone but himself. They did that for their own good and I don’t see it as a bad thing. So in the end, it seems to me that the sith were the reason why he turned to the darkside.

no, i place the blame squarely on Qui Gon Jin, who obstinately and stubbornly took anakin as a disciple, which started the entire series of events that led to his downfall. obi wan would be 2nd, since he should not have continued his training (obi was too young, barely trained, and should have followed yoda’s advice, because, as everybody knows, yoda is right about everything. ever.)

No, first it was the tusken raiders killing his mother. anger/revenge =
(dark side)

Then it was fear of padme dying. fear = (dark side)

Then palpatine told him the dark side could save her which almost sealed the deal

Then he made him go kill all those jedi and then he gave into anger and stuff while doing that so that completely sealed the deal.

The main people responsible for him going to the dark side are obi-wan and palpatine

Yes, he did. But he’s not the only reason. Like any accident/incident, there’s no one cause.

IF ONLY Qui Gon hadn’t taken Anakin.
IF ONLY Obi-Wan hadn’t continued his training.
IF ONLY Anakin hadn’t fallen for Padme.
IF ONLY Mace hadn’t pursued Palpatine.

If anyone had done something different, it’d have been a different story and maybe a different outcome.

I think it’s because, when he was a little boy, everyone was calling him ‘Annie.’

I always felt like Mace Windu, didn’t believe in Anakin. As if Windu himself thought that he was the choice one. You notice in the Clone Wars Mace and Anakin never had any mission together or anything.

There is no direct cause. But I always refer to the prophecy “bringing balance to the force”…what side wasn’t balanced…hmmm the dark side was getting kinda week there. Revenge of the Sith…title named appropriately.

Ultimately, Anakin was responsible for his own behavior. For every decision, there is a consequence, whether good or bad may not be necessary to determine – it just is. Palpatine manipulated him, because he was young and arrogant. Would he have turned to the Dark Side had Qui-Gon lived? If Palpatine had not manipulated everyone he came into contact with, would it have made a difference? If Anakin and Padme had played by the rules and didn’t marry, would it have changed their fate? Of course – all of these factors would have made a difference somehow, but we don’t know how exactly. We all have “what ifs” but ultimately we make our own decisions, and we live with the consequences of those choices. Even in the movies folks.

I think Windu was the last straw for Anakin becoming Darth Vadar to be honest.

When Windu had Senator Palpatine subdued, Anakin was open to the idea of him standing trial for his crimes/actions.

By attempting to kill Palpatine, Windu somewhat justified Palpatine’s claims to Anakin. In his own twisted way of thinking. Windu was going about it the wrong way.

You might even say that Windu was going to the dark side himself by killing Palpatine for the greater good.
