is tamarind supposed to be dark black?
I bought a jar of tamarind from my local indian store. Initially, i had no idea tamarind was supposed to be this thick dark black color. I thought it was red.
I’m trying to make pad thai, and it’s bugging me that i can’t find tamarind. Now that i found it, i wasn’t expecting it to be dark black.
Did i buy the wrong thing? Is this the wrong kind of tamarind?
Am I supposed to use the pre-made tamarind sauce from Knorr?

Actually, the red tamarind sounds unnatural and probably had color added. Tamarind is supposed to turn black.
