I was told that there’s a difference between pepper spray and mace… Is there, or are they the same thing?

Mace is a sort of biodegradable chemical spray. Neither are blinding or leave permanent damage, though I have heard mace is more effective.

Mace is chemically composed (a form of tear gas), while pepper spray is just what it sounds like. Mace is actually illegal in many western countries, while pepper spray is pretty readily available. You can, however, find some devices that contain a mixture of the two.
I carry one whenever I leave the house, be it attached to my purse or sitting on the tray of my toddler’s stroller. It’s can’t hurt to be protected!
