Is there a substitute for Cumin?
It is for a Hummus reciepe. I have everything but Cumin. Can I use Paprika or Cardamon or even nutmeg? I am not sure what type of flavour cumin is. Please help.

Just delete the cumin. Paprika is ok. Experiment. Taste…discover….many things will work…just taste as you go and do not oversalt
you could try coriander powder/coriander seeds or chili powder (it has cumin in it) or just leave it out
edit: i just saw the other answer and i agree with her to experiment with taste =)
I’d try a bit of chili powder. Cumin is the smoky, spicy—not hot–taste in chili powder and taco seasoning. Just don’t use the same amount called for and taste as you go. Don’t use nutmeg or coriander. Coriander is cilantro…not want you want in hummus.
There is a cool website that has saved my butt a few times. It is recipetips.com. Go to food substitutions. It sounds like you have some good advice from previous answers, but this site is something to keep handy. Also try apinchof.com. Put in the spice you’re looking for and they’ll give some additional information about that spice
