Is there an herb comparible to sage?
I’m making Lemon Herb Tortilla chips, the recipe is 6 T butter, 1 tsp. lemon & pepper seasoning, 1/4 tsp. sage, 1/4 tsp. thyme and 12 6inch corn tortillas, You melt the butter and add the herbs/seasoning, brush the tortillas with butter mix, cut and bake for 10-15 minutes. Now (after all that) I am out of sage I have a number of other spices in the house and I was wondering if I could just throw one of them in there instead? Should I double up on the thyme? I’m not sure. It’s raining terribly and I don’t really want to go out. Any help is appreciated!

I’m afraid sage is irreplaceable. It wont be the end of the world if you leave it out. Carry on. Happy cooking.
mugwart, its looks and smells like sage but it has different attributes.
Yes you can use any other herb. You might discover that you prefer something else. Open up your herb bottles and simply smell and see which one you would like to try.
you can use poultry seasoning to replace the thyme and sage
Sorry, No, You will be missing out on the flavor if you don’t use the ingredients the recipe calls for……Get an umbrella….
No, sage is sage. It won’t hurt the recipe much if it’s left out. A 1/4 tsp is a small amount for sage anyway.
