I bet it’s fennel. Several sources recommend fennel for tummy troubles. Could be anise too. Fennel tea has very dark grains.

The only ones I can think of are fennel, ani seeds, tarragon, and anise.
These all smell and taste a little like licorice.

it could be anise, but anise isn’t as sweet as licorice
