I’ve got two cheese and onion slices. How can I make them into a meal for two that isn’t rubbish?

I’ve got some veg, some potatoes but the main constituent of the meal is some cheese and onion slice. Boy, do I need inspiration!

Cheese and onion slice, steamed veg and sauted potatoes. Perhaps some gravy?

Tbh if you’re trying to impress someone I wouldn’t get your hopes up!

Cheese and onions go well with anything. I think it’s impossible to go wrong.

Saute your onions, melt the cheese, and stir in veggies or potatoes.

If you have bread, you could make a cheese and onion sandwich.

You could also put the cheese and onions on a bagel, and eat it that way.

Do you have any rice? Add the cheese and onions to rice.

Eggs? Make a quick omelet with eggs, cheese, and onions.

You could melt the cheese, stir in the onions, and turn it into a dip or spread for crackers.

You could make nachos if you have tortilla chips, cheese, and onions.

If you have grits, add the cheese and onions, as well as garlic powder and hot sauce, if you’ve got it.

Whatever you make, I hope it’s delicious! :)

You could chop up the onion and add both to the potatoes. Or you could roast the potatoes with just the onion with salt & pepper, some herbs and a little olive oil, then when almost done add the cheese and continue roasting until melted. Depending on the vegetable(s) you have, you could add that to the mix and roast them all togther, adding the cheese near the end.

If you had some eggs, you could make an amazing quiche with all those ingredients!

You’ll need 4 eggs though. If you have them, great! Beat the eggs in a bowl & add cheese (cut into smaller bite sizes). Set aside.

Cut all the veggies into smaller bites as well and saute until they are no longer raw.

Once you achieve that consistency, mix both egg & veggies together and pour into a shallow dish.

Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or until the eggs have set.

Enjoy! ♥

Ingredients
6 large red or yellow onions, peeled and thinly sliced.
Olive oil
1/4 teaspoon of sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 cups of beef stock, chicken stock, or a combination of the two (traditionally the soup is made with beef stock)
1/2 cup of dry vermouth or dry white wine
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon of dry thyme
Salt and pepper
8 slices of toasted French bread
1 1/2 cups of grated Swiss Gruyere with a little grated Parmesan cheese
Method
1 In a large saucepan, sauté the onions in the olive oil on medium high heat until well browned, but not burned, about 30-40 minutes (or longer). Add the sugar about 10 minutes into the process to help with the carmelization.

2 Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add the stock, vermouth or wine, bay leaf, and thyme. Cover partially and simmer until the flavors are well blended, about 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Discard the bay leaf.

3 To serve you can either use individual oven-proof soup bowls or one large casserole dish. Ladle the soup into the bowls or casserole dish. Cover with the toast and sprinkle with cheese. Put into the broiler for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F, or until the cheese bubbles and is slightly browned. Serve immediately.

Serves 4-6.

bake the potatoes
saute the veggies and onions

open your potatoes fill with the sauteed veggies and onion, put cheese over the top, put under broiler until cheese melts (watch closely)
