My 5-month old German Shepherd puppy just ate a clove of cooked garlic. Will she be okay?
My 5-month old German Shepherd puppy just ate a clove of cooked garlic (it was on top of my lunch, which I just took out of the microwave).
I know that even the smallest amount of garlic is supposedly toxic to some dogs…but I also know that some dogs eat garlic every day of thier lives and are fine.
Should I call a vet? Or should I not worry about it, and just let it pass through her system?
Help?

ahh call the vet now!
At 5 months your pup is a good size dog and should be fine. Some feed garlic as a flea and tick repellent. You might notice an odd smell about your dog in a couple days but it should pass.
she will be fine . . dont stress
Oh. Just keep an eye on him for behavioral changes. If he has visible changes in behavior call the vet. Give him plenty of plain dog food to eat to average out the PH in his tummy and plenty of fresh water available. He should be O.K. but for a bit of a tummy ache.
He will probably be fine as long as that garlic has some bland food next to it in his stomach.
I wouldn’t worry too much about one clove – honestly. You know your pup and you will know if she shows any signs of ill effects
Please don’t let that article in the first answer distress you. Note that it says “In excessive quantities” One clove is not excessive.
No offence to the first answerer but posting such articles in answer to questions like this is nothing short of scaremongering
Good luck with her I’m sure she’ll be fine
One clove of cooked garlic will not hurt her. I actually add 2 cloves to my dogs’ food throughout the week. It has really been affective for preventing fleas.
Just wait and see how he reacts. If you notice anything call the vet. She is a pretty hardy breed of dog so I would think she will be fine. She may have a belly ache but it should be okay.
