When I had that problem all they told me was not to take motrin type products.
you need a bit more info from the doc, So start jotting down questions for him.
Good luck
It is usually abnormal for the kideys to leak protein and the finding needs to be better investigated. I presume your doctor found the protein on a small sample of urine you gave him. The first step would be to obtain a 24-hour urine collection and see exactly how much protein do your kidneys acutally leak. If it is a lot, you will need to see a kidney specialist, called pediatric nephrologist, to check you for seriuos kidney disease. Sometimes, however, the extra protein in the urine can appear during physical stress, infection, etc., and not represent true kidney disease. That is why getting a repeat study with the 24 hour urine collection would be so crucial. Make sure you and your parents follow up on this.
Hope that helps,
Haslo
Addition: Then do the 24 hour urine asap and take it from there. One common condition in kids that could do that is called minimal change disease. You will need a kidney specialist if your protein is elevated. There is no real urgency to this, but don’t wait more than several months.
