Sirloin Roast in crockpot?
I know sirloin is usually a tender-cut already, so doesn’t really need to go in crockpot…. this is only a 2.5lb roast and if I place it in oven , it would shrink even more. I was thinking of browning all sides of the roast in hot oil on stove, then putting in crockpot, adding herbs, carrots, garlic, onion, greenpepper sliced?? along with HP Sauce(like an A1 sauce)mixed with bit of broth or water…I was also going to do some roasted potatoes in the oven seasoned with garlic, oregano, salt,pepper.,.Any other suggestions would be helpful*~ THankyou*~ and how many do you think that would feed? 4? should i just do rice with it? or the potatoes?? ahhhhhhhh* lol~Help*

That sounds great! Generally, more tender cuts of meat do better on the grill or other method of dry heat, but I don’t see the problem with putting it in the crock pot. Definitely brown it first to sear in the juices, and you’ll be able to trim all the visible fat off as well. Keep the meat off the bottom of the pot (onions can go on the bottom) and don’t add TOO much broth or other liquid. You can always add more later if need be. I personally prefer potatoes to rice with a steak. I think this could easily feed four if you have enough veggies and sides to go with it.
Hope this helps!
If you can stretch it to feeding 5, I’ll be right there! It sounds like a great dish and the crock pot is a great idea. Roasted potatoes will be just fine…no rice needed. A wonderful green salad should top it off with a good vinaigrette dressing and a loaf of crusty bread to sop off the juices or gravy! Enjoy!
You’re on the right track, I would definitely brown the roast first. The seasonings you have sound great. Don’t overcook it–I would stick to low heat. You might want to do some glazed carrots or a nice salad to go with the roast & potatoes.
