The question on green vs white tea was fantastic. What about the health effects of black tea?
Crazyed gave an excellent response to Privatize’s question on tea health effects. I wanted to know more about black tea as that’s what I enjoy drinking. Earl Grey in particular. Any benefits from bergamot in addition to the tea itself?

I think the black tea is good for your heart…..only you didn`t drink to much of it, of course *G*!
Black tea also has a significant amount of antioxidants and ECGC and is a very versatile tea. Being a bit more processed, black tea might contain slightly less nutritive substances, but is still a great part of a healthy well being.
As a tea lover also, I try and drink many different teas, and not just one kind. The reason is that I like to taste and enjoy different tastes.
Personally, I think that since black tea can sustain higher temperatures and longer steeping times, many flavors and spices can be added to black tea to create many different types of tea….for example, chai tea, earl grey, english breakfast, etc. For this reason, many blends of black tea exist and they all taste wonderful! anyway, the same health benefits of green tea go for black tea, but to a little bit lessor degree…but mix it up a little bit so that you don’t get bored with one type of tea and you keep drinking it. good luck.
