What are some flavorful seasonings and spices that dont contain salt?
I have tried so many and I think that my food is still bland. The only one I like is Curry and I have been wearing out its welcome.
I am cutting back on salt so any ideas would be great.
BTW Please do not mention any Mrs. Dash. I have all the different blends and none of them taste good to me.

chilli, garlic, onion
Saltless Seasoning Recipe
You’ll Need: 1/2 tsp. garlic powder; 1/4 tsp. thyme leaves; 1/4 tsp. onion powder; 1/4 tsp. paprika; 1/8 tsp. celery seed; 1/4 tsp. white pepper; 1/4 tsp. dry mustard; 1/4 tsp. dried lemon peel; 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper. Mix well. To Use: Package in small clear bottles, add label and ribbon. Use on meats and vegetables. Great gift, too!
Chimichurri is a great spice blend for red meats.
Here is a website that has a lot of varieties of premade saltfree spice mixtures:
If you start by buying fresh, organic and local food, that will boost the flavor alot!! I make my own spice mixes- for example for vegetables (mix according to your liking)
garlic
onion powder
parsley flakes
lemon pepper
for chicken/fish:
lemon pepper
garlic
coriander
parsley
For beef:
paprika
garlic
onion powder
rosemary
Look through your spice rack? Do you have a wide variety or just the basics? Look for seasonings such as cumin, cilantro, horseradish, dill and marjoram.
Once you have a variety to work with, mix and match. Try different temps, from mild to hot. Make your own blend of Italian or Cajun seasoning.

This often-asked-for salt substitute is flavorful and will help you cut back on salt and still be able to enjoy tasty foods, because it calls for powders rather than salts. You will need:
5 teaspoons onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon white pepper (can use black)
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
Mix all ingredients and store in a tightly covered, labeled container in a cool, dry place. Don’t store this, or any spices, above the stove. They’ll lose their zip.
Garlic is wonderful. My husband has high blood pressure and he uses alot of Thyme and Sage. THere is also a salt substitute…. but i cant remember the name. Its red and has a little bit of a lemon flavor to it. If you are making pasta sauce, add a little sugar to cut down acidity instead of covering it up by salt. good luck
There is a salt-free Cavenders Greek Seasoning that’s good.
My absolute favourite is BASIL!!
I know some people say that each herb has a meat it should only go with but I put basil with everything!!
I also think a simple flour and herbs (i use basil
) makes a nice seasoning for most things.
Check out your spice rack to see what spices you already have. Try some and then mix and match. Experimenting is always fun!!
