What are the uses for fresh ginger root?
I just love pure ginger candy. It seems to make my gout feel better. I thought that if the candy is good maybe the root will be best and what other things you could put it in and how will it taste. Please give me some good ideas.

In Chinese food recipes,…Also try making ginger tea fo drinking but also good for nausea
Roots will keep in the refrigerator for up to three weeks, and you can freeze them if they are wrapped well in plastic.
You can use fresh ginger in recipes that call for dried, but use about half the amount called for.
You can peel ginger root and chop it into very thin pieces for adding to any stir fry recipe. Try adding thin slivers to your poached fruit recipes or compotes. Grate the ginger root and add to vegetable recipes as you boil or steam them. Of course, we all know that ground ginger is invaluable in holiday recipes!
Gingered White Chocolate Biscotti
2 C all-purpose flour
2/3C sugar
2 T crystallized ginger, minced (find it in the spice section of the grocery store)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
4 oz. premium white chocolate, finely chopped
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 egg white
Makes 2 Dozen Cookies
Pre-heat oven to at 350°F.
Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl. Combine the vanilla and next 2 ingredients, and add to the flour mixture. Stir until well blended (dough will be dry).
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 7 or 8 times. Shape dough into a 16-inch long roll. Place roll on a greased baking sheet coated with cooking spray, and flatten roll to 1-inch thickness. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the roll from the baking sheet to a wire rack, and let cool for 10 minutes. Cut the roll diagonally into 1/2″ slices (see photo). Place, cut sides down on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 more minutes. Turn cookies over and bake an additional 10 minutes (cookies will be slightly soft in the center but will harden as they cool). Remove cookies from the baking sheet and let cool completely.
Ginger scented risotto:
1 T grated fresh ginger
1/4 cup sesame oil
1 pound arborio rice
1/2 gallon hot chicken stock
Serves 4
Heat the sesame oil and ginger in a thick bottomed stock pot. Add the rice and sauté for 2 minutes, stirring often. Slowly add the chicken stock in 2 cup intervals, remembering not to add any more liquid until the previous addition has been absorbed. Continue until all the chicken stock has been absorbed. Rice should be creamy and firm to the bite, about 16 minutes.
Tonight I am marinating my chicken in a Ginger Terriaki marinade!
6 Chicken Breast
1 inch ginger root grated
2 clove garlic minced
1 cup terriaki marinade
Fresh ground black pepper
Combine all ingredients and marinade for a least an hour, then grill.
Put it in smoothies. It give them an extra zip.
I used a big hunk last weekend for a ginger-peach BBQ sauce for my beef ribs — they were mack-tacular. Pure ginger can be sliced and cooked with just about anything you use garlic in (mostly Asian dishes, stir-frys, rices, that kind of thing). You can use it any time you sautee any meat or veg with oil or butter.
Also try Ginger Oil, it’s very good and tasty when replacing olive or vegetable oil.
I use it in carrot cake. Also there is always ginger tea (Alvita from the health food store is good.)
yeah ginger is great for pain relief and nausea and all sorts of stuff
wut you can do is slice the root (peel it first), put it in a pot of boiling water with a cinnamon stick and it makes a great tea
also, if u grind some with jalapenos and lime juice it makes a good sauce for chicken and stuff
