What kind of drum major mace should I get?
I’m relatively new to mace technique, and I hope to be doing spins, some tossing, and signals with my new mace. I don’t need a super-high-quality-primo mace, just an appropriate one.
What length should I be looking at? I’m 5’8 if that makes a difference.
What’s a reasonable price?

One comment a “What kind of drum major mace should I get?”
Depending on where you live will depend on what kind of mace instruction is easier to get, but I would suggest a British Premier Mace. It’s the most functional one that I’ve seen in use, and it’s also the one that I spin with.
For height, I would suggest that you get a sixty inch (normal height). They also sell short maces (54″), but for your height, the sixty inch is probably best. I’m 5′ 7″, and I spin a sixty.
Also, depending on where you live, to buy a mace and have it shipped can cost at the cheapest, around $200 and at the most $400. The most reasonable you’ll probably find now is around $250-$270.
Hope this helped!
