What kind of peppermint oil is used to repel rats?

i bought pot pourri peppermint oil (the kind that is burned by candles to make rooms smell nice) and i dunno if i bought the right kind. i tested it out by placing 3 cotton balls filled with the stuff beside a piece of meat i put where i know rats pass and 5 mins later, the meat was gone.

What type of peppermint oil should i really buy? is pot pourri oil 100% peppermint oil?

It will say on the bottle whether it is 100% pure.
You should be looking for an aromatherapy oil rather than a pot pourri oil though I think.
Never heard of rats not liking peppermint though.

Ants are repeled by peppermint. If you want to get rid of rats and mice, put fresh cling free fabric softener sheet around where they are. They like to make nests out of them and the sheets will kill them. Otherwise invest in good rat traps. The black box type with the jaws inside are the best and safest and the rats can’t get out or get away. They are pricy though. Or if you don’t have kids and pets, you can get good bait blocks at most feed stores or co-ops and they will eat those and die. Even if you manage to get rid of the rats you have now, remember that more will take their place. Rats are everywhere.

You can find peppermint oil in places like Hobby Lobby and more so in Health food stores.
It is used for colds too. An old old remedy.
