black pepper .. 1/4 teaspoon
coffee … 1/4 cup
along with the usual ginger , cinnamon , nutmeg , allspice , and cloves.
i am chilling the dough now , and rolling these cookies out tomorrow.
would you try a cookie that was made with the black pepper and coffee in it ??

Maybe coffee but no way Jose would I try it with black pepper unless I saw the cook try it first
well it might be ok i mean who would have thought that salt in a candy bar would be good but take 5s taste great so dont doubt it til u try it
Your not gonna taste these ingredients as they are covered up by the ones thta you will taste.
I’ve seen gingerbread recipes with pepper in it. To me that seems really odd, but it’s not uncommon. I would omit the pepper..coffee, okay. Usually they call for molasses too.
Have me over and I’ll help ya taste test ;O)
That’s a lot for one cookie.
yes i would
Sure, I’d try it. I’d say the coffee adds a little zip and the pepper just enhances the “bite” (for lack of a better word) of the ginger.
Cooking can be a mysterious thing. I’d say go for it. For all you know those ingredients could make the best gingerbread cookies you have ever had- and if they don’t- then learn from your mistakes and next time you make them, omit what you think needs to be.
Experimenting with things that you haven’t tried before is one of the great joys of making food.
Goodluck with it. =]
Sounds yummy. What time is the taste test?
I’d eat it! I’ll eat anything that’s free.
this is why i don’t like to cook…i’m too skittish when trying to make new things. i hate to make something and be disappointed when it doesn’t turn out right.
but i *love* tasting new things….so, i’d try the cookie, then if it tastes good, i’d make a batch, LOL
sounds like an ol’ school German recipe… hell yea i will give it a try!! send em snail mail and I’ll glady tell ya how they tasted oh and by the way MERRY CHRISTMAS
