Where can I find candy cane(peppermint sticks) at this time of year?

I want to make peppermint stick ice cream. For my mothers Birthday. But at this time of year, where can I find them.
Will they be at my local grocery store? I dont recall them there.
I live in Long Island. It doesnt matter where in Long Island but I need them in order to make the icecream.

I WOULD buy the ice cream but I don’t know where I can find it.

Im not sure about Wal-Mart either

I think that Edys make peppermint stick ice cream… they should have it at your local grocery store…
but if you want to make your own then you can try your local candy shop… where they make homemade candies, if they dont have them, they probably should be able to tell you where you can find them

Hope that helps

The grocery store (or a drugstore like CVS) would have Starlight Kisses, which are those round red & white peppermint hard candies. Those are sold year-round everywhere (try Walmart too). You can get peppermint sticks at specialty candy stores, where they have all sorts of flavors of sticks…..

You could make them here is the recipe
Candy Cane Recipes

Santa’s Victorian Candy Canes

2 C. sugar
1/2 C. light corn syrup
1/2 C. water
1/4 t. cream of tartar
3/4 t. peppermint extract
1 t. red food coloring

Mix the sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar in large, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Place a candy thermometer in the mixture, and cook without stirring until the thermometer reaches 265° F.
Turn off the heat and add the peppermint extract. Divide the mixture in half by carefully pouring part of it into another pan. Add the red food coloring to one of the pans.
While waiting for the candy to cool, grease three cookie sheets (two as working space, and the third to provide a non-stick surface for the canes to cool).

Butter your hands, and use a buttered spatula to cut off a portion of one of the clear taffy. Have a helper do the same with the red taffy.

Pull and fold the pieces repeatedly on your cookie sheet until they appear glossy, then roll them into an 8-inch long coil. Give the head of the cane a twist before setting it aside to cool on the third greased cookie sheet.

Makes 6 medium sized Candy Canes

The recipe looks VERY easy

cracker barrel there like 10 cents a piece

Get the soft ones, those would be excelent in ice cream. They would melt a bit and not be so crunchy.
