Why does my live basil wilt so fast?
When I buy fresh potted basil, it seems like no matter what, the stem turn black at the base and the plant dies within a week or two. And my oregano goes brown in sections until it dies in about the same time. What am I doing wrong in love that a highschool kid stockboy/girl seems to get right while texting friends?

Sounds like root rot. I guess that you are over watering it. Let the top dry before you water. then water untill it runs out the bottom and the pot feels heavy. Throw out the water that drains out the bottom. Check in 20 minutes for more water than drains out. Do not let it sit in water for more than 30 minutes.
