Will I be able to bring opened cooking spices as carry-on items for my flight?

Orange extract (alcohol), nutmeg, cloves, allspice, anise seed. All have been opened for previous use. Will I be able to take these on my flight as carry-ons? The TSA website does not specify on spices, but I assume they should be considered food items.

It isn’t WHAT’S in the containers it’s the SIZE of the container no more than 3 ounces by volume. The TSA is very unclear on explaining their own rules.

Even though the airlines do not restrict specific items, and the TSA does not restrict spices, basically, if you are carrying an open container, you may be asked to either taste the item, prove it is what it is (if you can) or it can be confiscated by the TSA agent. Anything that looks suspicious might have to be discarded, especially if it resembles drugs, etc. It is more than the size of the container (like the previous person wrote). You can still get anything confiscated at the security checkpoint.
